🌿 Ingredient Sourcing

Every ingredient in our formulas is selected for both its efficacy and its environmental footprint. We work with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical and sustainable practices.

  • Beeswax — Sourced from small-scale, ethical beekeepers who prioritize hive health and sustainable harvesting. Our beeswax is unrefined and minimally processed to preserve its natural properties.
  • Plant Oils — Our carrier oils (such as jojoba, rosehip, and argan) are cold-pressed or expeller-pressed to retain their full nutrient profile without the use of chemical solvents.
  • Botanical Extracts — We source herbs and botanicals from certified organic or wildcrafted suppliers, prioritizing regenerative farming practices wherever possible.
  • No Synthetic Fillers — We never use petroleum derivatives, synthetic fragrances, parabens, or artificial preservatives. Every ingredient earns its place in our formulas.

📦 Packaging Choices

We're committed to reducing our packaging footprint without compromising the integrity of our products.

  • Glass & Aluminum — Our balms and oils are packaged in glass jars and aluminum tins — both infinitely recyclable and free from plastic leaching concerns.
  • Minimal Packaging — We design our packaging to use only what's necessary. No excess tissue paper, no plastic inserts.
  • Recycled & FSC-Certified Paper — Our labels, cards, and mailers use recycled content or FSC-certified paper from responsibly managed forests.
  • Plastic-Free Shipping — Orders ship in recyclable kraft mailers or boxes. We use paper tape and compostable void fill instead of plastic bubble wrap.

Every Bovanique Balm is handcrafted in small batches in British Columbia, Canada. Local production means:

🐰 Cruelty-Free, Always

Bovanique Balms are and will always be 100% cruelty-free. We never test on animals, and we do not work with suppliers who do. Our products are formulated with respect for all living beings.

While our balms contain beeswax — a natural, ethically harvested ingredient — and are therefore not vegan, we are committed to transparency about every ingredient and its origin.

Sustainability is a journey, not a destination. We're continuously evaluating our supply chain, packaging, and production practices to reduce our impact. Some of the areas we're actively working on include:
